Just as I'm preeching about Linux and Windows I get the email I have been dreading. The risingdragon.org.uk domain and hosting has been moved over to a Windows box. Not so good news (IMHO). I must admit I do mind about this, mostly because our favourite company Microsoft have a bad reputation when it comes to servers and security. I know myself (because I have done it) that you can actually, with patience, secure an NT class server. The problem is the amount of bugs and exploits that have yet to rear it's ugly head it's unlikely to stay secure for any amount of time. Unlike Unix class server's, Windows ones treat things differently, in Unix (and Linux) everything is treated as a file. If you don't have the permissions to read, edit or execute it then you simply can't. This model of security is more advanced than Windows with user-levels.
