A little bit about me
My name is tek, I am 30 and I am a dot.com crash in recovery. I've moved in to the education sector so I now don't have to fight the army of Dreamweaver amateurs. I find it a fluffy place to work because it is both interesting and rewarding.
I've been doing this for probably longer than most people, blogging (circa 1998) and developing (circa Atari 800, yes I made games on something with 48kb RAM). I specialise in authentication, encryption, database and scripting but I'm not afraid of designing either; I just prefer the engine rather than the bodywork. In the same sentiment that's why I use Debian Linux and not Windows to do all of my developing.
I live with my two dogs in the North West of England. I'm happy.
Some other (boring) stuff
I also work freelance doing bespoke desktop and web development. I've made free software, I've helped a lot of people out over the years with bug fixing and sadly I can code in ASM. Gladly I don't have to use that skill very much these days. I have a thing for accessibility, which surprisingly doesn't automatically mean web standards; that statement has some people angry/laughing but W3C standards don't = accessibility all the time.
I was a great fan of CSS a long time before it got as popular as it is now. I like semantic design, but I also belive the best tool does the job and it's the job I like to get done.
Some other (even more boring) stuff
