One of the things missing from the Nokia N900 is MMS, this might seem pointless these days with instant email and connections to the web that are constant. However, some people (I'm looking at you friends in the real world) still have handsets that are old, or they prefer simplier phones (there is something to be said about that but I digress).

We're not stuck, there is a package in "testing" right now called fMMS on Maemo. Here is the thread concerning it. If you have the extras-testing repo added then you can install it, which was a breeze. A window pops up wanting the APN Config and that's when the problems started. The default GPRS settings supplied pre-set from o2 in my other configs didn't seem to work (I presume they have separate WAP and MMS services?), in the end the below is what I managed to get working.

I hope it helps.

Access point name: wap.o2.co.uk
Username: o2wap
Password: password
Proxy: 193.113.200.195
Proxy Port: 8080
MMSC: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002

I had no problems sending and getting MMS back to my other mobile (T-Mobile) with these settings.

I love Linux, we always find a way.

I think it is important to remember which parties over the last few decades have stripped the UK population of its basic civil liberties.

Watch on. (More parts in the featured links on the right).

Fuck you n00b

I've got your car make, colour and reg plate all saved away. Rule No 1, don't think you can sit outside cracking the network I am on. Let me give you a little advice...

1. Don't have your laptop sat so high on your lap, it makes it easy to see your screen (I loved the popup when I changed the SSID to your reg plate, your quick look around was pointless, I can see you but you cannot see me).

2. Try to hide your flustering panic when I step outside for a cig, it gives you away real easy.

3. Don't pick a tiny side street with no parked cars yet park right outside the house. Better signal I know, but think about it...

4. Sunday morning is probably not the best time, traffic is low, you stick out like a sore thumb.

5. Don't use Windows XP.

6. Always spoof your MAC address when WarDriving. The fact you seem to have zero lag suggested to me that you were using the real one. Tut Tut.

7. Even if you were Uber L33t, this network uses a broad/multicast to log all requests, you can never get a connection to the logging server because you have no idea what adddress it is on (subnet scanning won't help either) and cannot connect through the WiFi to get to it anyway, you need to be physically connected to the switch. Always presume everything is hostile.

8. I am always going to be better at this than you, there is always someone else better at it than me. Realise this.

I didn't have a great day yesterday, today is not looking much better - don't piss me off n00b.

I'm still considering reporting you, since you might be a kiddy fiddler trying to get a free connection to trade your filth. Then again, you might have been a secret service agent in desperate need of a connection to avert a national disaster, I doubt it thought Mr Bauer.

Yours,

Root.

"They went on forever - They - When I w- We lived in Arizona, and the skies always had little fluffy clouds in 'em, and, uh... they were long... and clear and... there were lots of stars at night. And, uh, when it would rain, it would all turn - it- They were beautiful, the most beautiful skies as a matter of fact. Um, the sunsets were purple and red and yellow and on fire, and the clouds would catch the colours everywhere. That's uh, neat 'cause I used to look at them all the time, when I was little. You don't see that. You might still see them in the desert."

Listen on...
