Bring me the head of tek!

Things have been somewhat, well, crazy at work in the last few weeks. Where I work has been starting the process of buying and implementing a content management system (CMS). Now in my current role I have been a part of that process by feeding in through various groups to get the job done. This has meant lots of meetings but it also meant two days away during the product selection process. Well we got through all that and selected a product. I can't talk about it and I won't because the first rule about tek's blog is you don't talk about work, you don't mention names, locations - you know how it works. Anyway suffice to say I'm happy with the selection and I think it'll do the job we need it to.
On top of that and this is where things started to get a little mad, I was in effect head-hunted by another section of where I work. From the 21st of May I will be part of a brand new team of people who are the implementation team. This will consist of a small (3 person) team that will oversee the implementation of the CMS in to our organisation. This might not sound groovy to some of you, but let me tell you it's a serious promotion on the ground for me (with a pay rise) and also it means we can do allsorts of things that I've been trying to push for a long time.
My role will be the technical side of implementation and advising the person (the only one) above me in the team who will be with us for two years, after that we're running the show. We will be hammering out a totally new web strategy and allsorts which is cool, no EXCITING in fact. Due to the fact that I don't go in to details about where I work and what sort of things go on it's hard for me to relay to you how truly awesome this is. Trust me though, it is!
Bring it on!

I reckon I'm about 80% certain on where you work and what you do, and putting in a new CMS is very, very exciting. I hope you've chosen the one that isn't full of clutter and settings and options (like on of our training tool), and just "works" right out of the box. Hope it was cheap too.
Not sure if you got a chance to d/l that file I was chatting to you about. It's all gone tits up up work at the moment, so don't worry about pursuing the work - it's not going to be worth it. I'll e-mail you more about what's happend.....
.... Rule Number 1

We've chosen one that will perform a particular set of functions that we need for the size of organisation we are. We're very good at hacking in to problems and solving them so I'm sure it will live up to our expectations, even if we have to make it do that. It wasn't cheap, enterprise class ones never are heh!
I did have a ganzer at it and I so totally forgot to get back to you about some things. Let me know by email what the crack is but I do need to speak to you before I start any work on it.

good for you man, but why didn't you write up your own cms and sell it to them? then you could be making money on two fronts.
good luck with the new gig.
