The everyday benefits of Linux

Everyday I thank myself for always running Linux, be that on my Laptop or my Home network. Today for example I forgot to dump some stuff on to my pen-drive to take to work. If I'd have been running only Windows then I'd be really stuck right now and feeling rather embarrassed. Fact is because I do run Linux I was simply able to log-in to my home network from work securely via SSH and access the files I needed. Of course you can do the same with Windows but the fact remains that I've yet to see a Windows box stay up for more than week without needing a reboot for one reason or another (usually a BSOD) - you can disagree all you want if you're a Windows Fan-boy but I know from 18yrs of IT experience that I am correct.
As you can see from this link (which is updated on the hour) the main central box called Mothership has a current uptime of 20 days+ and that's only had a reboot because I needed to unplug it, prior to that it was well over a month since it needed a reboot and once again only because I bought some new RAM for it.
Sure, I know that I require some hardcore things for what I do but the fact remains that today I'd have been somewhat in the shit if it were not for the fact that I run Linux, confident in the knowledge my box would be up and running!
