Nokia 6280

As from tomorrow morning I will be the proud owner of the new Nokia 6280 (which T-Mobile only got in today, woo!). I really quite liked my Motorola V3 Razor and it has served me well over the last year. It's looking like it's been through WWIII thought due to the fact I keep it in the same pocket as my keys and change. It's been probably the most solid handset in terms of design and it's only recently that it has started to crash be slightly buggy, which I can probably put down to the fact that I have hacked the crap out of it with various bits of stuff. On that score it's been the most customisable handset I have had. Even though you can't download new themes for it I managed to hack the handset and create my own and upload it to it. If anyone wants some advice on how to do any of this I'll be happy to publish what I did and the tools I used or created for it.
Anyway I also get 10 pay as you go SIM cards and another Bluetooth headset for free with it. I think I'll be selling them on E-bay for a nice healthy night out.
I'll write a review once I get the thing working and have used it for a few days.

A 6280 . . . .
Noooooo !!
I hope you've got a 14 day return policy on it. I'll tell you why (seeing as I didn't get round to doing the review on my site).
It's a nice phone, yeah, and granted the camera is ace, and the display is really nice. Good sound quality, the radio is great (although why you need to use the headset and not have the speaker is beyond me), and the 3d games are super. Imagage Tron Light bikes mixed with Snake - it's very very additictive.
There are some downsides to it though:
No application switching - if your using Opera and you get a text message, you've got to exit out of that to read your message, as there is no quick switching button like the other Nokias I've had (6680, 6600). This was a major upset for me.
Text messaging - Any words you spell and save, don't get saved. They dissapear. Plus when you have no count to show you how many messages your text is spread across, so you may end up wasting two texts with one only having one letter on it.
Plus, once you get the message sent, it goes back to the message you just typed, and you have to back out of it to get to the main menu again (Which has 3D icons on it, very swish).
It also doesn't display your text as a name, but as the persons phone number, again, a slight upset to me, as I'm crap at numbers.
Software is limited for it, seeing as it's a series 40 Symbian phone (updated) but I was able to find a lot of good stuff on IRC games wise.
The Screen - This might be a major design fault with the phone, or I'm just too normal usage for it. I had it for a week, and in that time it went from my table at home, into my coat pockek for the 2 min drive to work, then on my desk for the rest of the day. One week of it being in my coast pocket for about 3 hours in otal resulted in dust on the innner screen, and I think this creeps in through the large plastic section that you use to slide the phone open with.
So have it for a week and tell me what you think.
I sent my back, as I really couldn't get on with it. Got the N70 now, and couldn't be more happier!

Let me know how you get on with your new Nokia, It will be my next handset of choice when Orange offer it as an upgrade at the end of the month...Ive had my fair share of bad luck with phones. My Nokia 6230 which i got all excited about has worked for all of about three months!
Skeddy, isnt the N70 a house brick?

No, not really Neil, it's quite a good size.
It's abotu 5.5cm wide, 11cm long, and 2cm deep. I love it, it's like a turbo nutter super charged version of the 6680 I used to have.
