Smart meters No thanks
Wow, this country is just getting (gotten?) over the top.
The devices, which the government plans to install in every home by 2020, will also tell energy firms what sort of appliances are being used, allowing companies to target customers who do not reduce their energy consumption.
Privacy campaigners have expressed horror at the proposals, which come as two million homes have 'spy' devices fitted to their rubbish bins by councils who record how much residents are recycling.
It's just insane. Read the rest here.

Shocking. I can't believe this is being entertained. When will it end? The walls are closing in, and I'll be wearing my tinfoil hat by the end of the year.

Honestly, it's just nuts.
People used to laugh at me for being a hedge-monkey protester, quite a lot of those folks aren't laughing as much now they're seeing what I was on about a decade ago coming to fruition (only a friend the other week said "tek, you were frighteningly correct about Iraq and what it would mean for us not them, there isn't a threat is there? just a loss of my freedom and it's too late now" I sat nodding).
People's apathy in this country sickens me, anything for an "easy" life, not realising they won't have one soon if this sorta stuff keeps up.

Totally agree. My friends and family still can't understand why I get so annoyed when I read about things like this. They don't get that it impacts on their lives at some point. They just sit there and watch me get angry, thinking that I'm just a bit melodramatic. This stuff is happening, and they're trying to shove it under the carpet so nobody notices or cares.
I'll send you a tinfoil hat and we'll be sorted!
